Info:

This popular recreation area and campground is situated at the confluence of the Deschutes and Columbia rivers. On the west side of the Deschutes river is Heritage Landing which is a boat launch area popular with rafters, fishermen and jetboaters. On the east side of the Deschutes River is the main state park which features a nice campground on the banks of the river. This area also is the trailhead for the Atiyeh Deschutes River Trail which follows the Deschutes upstream for 17 miles along the old railbed. This trail is popular with hikers, mountain bikers and horses (horses allowed March 1 - June 30 by reservation only see http://www.oregonstateparks.org/images/pdf/deschutes_horse.pdf for more information).

The campground features an interpretive center (as this was a site along the Oregon Trail),  restrooms, primitive sites, electric sites, and 4 group/RV reservation areas. Due to fire danger, no campfires are allowed here between July 1 and September 30.

The Deschutes River can be quite swift in this area with a very strong current near the I-84 bridge, so take caution when using non-motorized boats on this portion of the river.
