Located on the south slope on Mt. Hood, Government Camp is a picturesque alpine village. At an elevation of 4,000 feet and with an average snowfall close to 300 inches, it is the base camp for a wide range of outdoor activities and adventures.

  • Trillium Lake: Scenic camping & picnicking, near junction of Hwys 35 & 26.
  • Pioneer Woman’s Grave: Historic point of interest representing early pioneer struggles, at junction of Hwys 35 & 26.
  • Mt. Hood Museum: Cascadian cultural center. 503- 272-3301. 
  • Timberline Lodge: National Historic landmark built in the 1930s as a WPA project. Open year-round, skiing, dining and overnight lodging. 503-272-3311. 
  • Mt. Hood Skibowl: Year-round fun, skiing, biking, alpine slide. 503-272-3206.
