Gorge Stonehenge

An almost identical replica of England's famous Stonehenge sits on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River and the city of Maryhill. The full size replica was built by Sam Hill, a road builder, as a memorial to those who died in World War I. The memorial was dedicated in 1918, but not complete until 1930. Hill passed away soon after the memorial was finished. The American Stonehenge is now a part of the Maryhill Museum of Art. There is no admission fee to view the memorial, but donations to maintain the site are accepted.
