GORGE GREEN DRINKS
May 22, 2012
6 - 8 p.m.
Water's Edge
The Dalles, OR
[Hood River, OR] The Gorge Owned Business Network (GO!) and the Gorge Technology Alliance (GTA) are teaming up on the next Gorge Green Drinks, set for Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Water’s Edge Health and Wellness Center at Lone Pine Village in The Dalles. The event will focus on Emerging Trends in the Commercial Green Building sector and feature a panel of local green building experts, including Mike Zingg of Design Structures, Mark Cherniack with New Buildings Institute, and Gary Fox and Robert Gilham of Lone Pine Village.
The green building industry has seen extraordinary growth over the last decade, thanks in large part to more stringent energy codes and the US Green Building Council’s LEED rating system. Here in the Gorge, green building trends are not as common in the commercial and industrial building sector as in the residential sector. What is the business case for green building and what are some of the factors keeping businesses from investing in energy and water efficiency, more ecological building materials, and other aspects of “green” buildings? Our panel of local experts will attempt to shed light on these and other questions.
In 2011, Water’s Edge was Gold-certified by the US Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating program and is one of only two buildings in the entire Columbia River Gorge to achieve such status. Join Gorge Green Drinks and enjoy this great networking opportunity while enjoying views of the Columbia River and excellent food, beer and wine. GO! and GTA would like to thank Lone Pine Village and Mid-Columbia Medical Center for donating the space and food for this event.
